Mrs Jill Ravens is our School Counsellor. She is appointed to our school for 2.75 days each week:- Monday, Tuesday and Friday (Friday morning on odd weeks). If you wish to contact her please do so through the school number: 9427 1024.
Counsellors are experienced teachers who have a degree in psychology and postgraduate qualifications in school counselling. Most are registered psychologists.
Any parent or student may request a
consultation with the counsellor. However a teacher will
normally contact a parent about a student with learning
problems and after consultation with parents a referral to
the school counsellor will be completed. Students must have
parental permission before being interviewed or assessed by
the school counsellor.
School counselling is a confidential service and the school
counsellor will check with students and parents before
passing on information to others.
School counsellors work with students, parents and teachers in a variety of ways including:
-
counselling students
-
assisting parents to make informed decisions about their child's education
-
assessing students' learning and behaviour
-
assisting the school to identify and address disabilities that affect students' learning
-
liaising with other agencies such as Lower North Shore Child & Family Health, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and other professionals.
