Lost Property

Uniform Shop  | Uniform Shop Contacts  | Uniform Requirements

Lost property is located on the verandah behind the Kit Kirkwood Hall. There are two large plastic storage bins for named and unnamed property.

Parents and students are welcome to look for lost property in the storage bins but care must be taken not to mix clothes that have already been sorted.

Unnamed lost property will be kept for two weeks and then given to the School Uniform Shop as second hand clothing or given to charity.

Please make sure your children’s possessions are labelled with name and current class. It is impossible to distribute unnamed lost property.

Naming your Child's Clothing

It is very important to clearly name every single item of clothing. And please, don't just write "Sally S" in a hat or sweater. We can only do a database search on surnames, so please write "Sally Smith" instead. We suggest that you write your child's full name as well as class in all his/her belongings. In the case of school hats, it is often a good idea to also add a telephone number. Use black texta in hats so the children can easily read their names.

Changing Classes

Changing classes at year end? Then make sure you change the class name in your child's hat or sweater. This will greatly help the Lost Property Monitors if the item ends up in Lost Property.

Lunch Boxes & Water Bottles
If lunch boxes and water bottles are unmarked and unclaimed after two weeks they are thrown away. It is unhygienic to keep them any longer. The solution is to clearly name your child's lunch box and water bottle with black texta.

Checking your Child's Clothing
Sometimes items of clothing go missing because they are taken home accidentally by other children, particularly in Kindergarten. It is an idea if parents and carers could periodically check their child's clothing to make sure they have not picked up someone else's property by mistake. It happens! If your child brings home an item that is not theirs, make sure it is returned to the child's teacher as soon as possible.
